Fatal spiking incident along the R104 Pretoria Road in Equestria
Another life lost. Another family left with an unbearable loss.
Just before midnight on Sunday night, tragedy struck along the R104 Pretoria Road in Equestria, as a motorist travelling towards Silverton encountered what appeared to be carefully placed rocks deliberately positioned in the roadway.
The motorist struck the rocks, lost control of the vehicle and subsequently crashed into a pole.
A distressed call was received by Live Traffic from members passing the scene. Responders, together with law-enforcement officials and Tshwane Fire and Rescue Services, were immediately dispatched to assist.
Sadly, upon arrival, emergency services declared the motorist deceased at the scene.
There are no words that can truly describe the devastation of losing a loved one in such circumstances.
Behind every vehicle involved in a fatal crash is a person.
Behind every person is a family.
Tonight, someone is facing the unimaginable reality that their loved one is not coming home.
ROAD SPIKING IS NOT A TRAFFIC INCIDENT — IT IS A DEADLY CRIME.
Deliberately placing rocks or other objects in the roadway can turn a normal journey home into a fight for survival within seconds.
