TWO SUSPECTS APPREHENDED IN ALLEGED ATM CARD-SWAPPING ATTEMPT IN PHOENIX:
Two suspects were apprehended in Phoenix KZN after attempting to swap a bank card belonging to an ATM user at a local service station.
A witness monitored the suspects’ vehicle and provided information to KZN VIP, enabling responders to intercept the pair along Industrial Park Drive. They were allegedly found with multiple bank cards and a POS/card-payment device.
SAPS attended the scene, but the suspects were later released because no complainant was available to formally open a criminal case.
⚠️ The incident highlights the importance of reporting suspected crime. ATM users are urged never to accept assistance from strangers, protect their PIN and immediately report any suspicious activity to their bank and SAPS.
