A deadly weekend of violence was recorded across the Cape Flats, with shootings, stabbings and bodies discovered in several communities.
23 people were killed.
13 people were wounded.
Multiple incidents involved mass shootings.
Areas affected included Mitchells Plain, Hanover Park, Manenberg, Philippi, Elsies River, Delft, Khayelitsha, Nyanga and Wesbank.
Among the victims were children, including a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old boy, while a baby’s body was found in a drain in Hanover Park.
Philippi, Delft and Elsies River recorded particularly serious clusters of violence.
In Wesbank, four people were shot, leaving a 37-year-old father dead and three others wounded.
In Philippi East, four people were shot, with two killed and two critically wounded.
In Delft, two men were killed and another critically wounded.
Manenberg also recorded a stabbing death, a separate shooting and the shooting death of a dog.
The figures underline the continuing scale of violent crime across Cape Flats communities, with 36 people killed or wounded in just three days.
