Pirates Make Decision On Goalkeeper Amid Boon Arrival?

Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Ethan Visagie is set to continue his development away from the club after being loaned to Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Orbit College FC, the Siya crew has been informed.

Visagie has already joined up with Orbit and has started training with the North West-based club as they prepare for the new season.

A source close to the situation has indicated that Pirates have given the goalkeeper the green light to make the move in order to gain valuable experience and continue his development through regular competitive football.

“Pirates have allowed Ethan to go to Orbit so that he can grow and get more game time. He has already started training with the team,” said the source.

Orbit will be looking to make an immediate return to the Betway Premiership after suffering relegation at the end of last season.

The club will therefore be hoping that the experience of competing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship can provide Visagie with an opportunity to play an important role while continuing his progression.

The move comes at an interesting time for the Pirates goalkeeping department, particularly following the arrival of New Zealand goalkeeper Dublin Boon from Stellenbosch FC.

As reported by the Siya crew, Boon has signed for the Buccaneers after a short spell with Stellies, adding another option to a department that underwent changes during the off-season.

Pirates previously parted ways with Melusi Buthelezi, who joined Sekhukhune United, while Sipho Chaine remains an important option for head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.

Ouaddou has also spoken about the need to reinforce the goalkeeping department. With Visagie now set for a season-long spell away from the club and Boon coming in, there has been increased focus on how the Buccaneers intend to structure their goalkeeping options for the 2026/27 campaign.

The Pirates coach recently mentioned Siyabonga Dladla and Zoey Monyepao among the goalkeepers currently available to him, with the club continuing to assess the department.
