Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has reiterated his party’s stance on joining the Government of National Unity (GNU), stating that the party is ready to participate only if the Democratic Alliance (DA) and the Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus) are removed from the arrangement.

Once Helen Zille is out, siyangena.

Malema made these remarks during his closing address at the party’s third elective conference in Soweto, Johannesburg. He emphasized that the EFF remains prepared to govern and serve the nation, provided the current composition of the GNU changes.

The EFF had previously rejected the ANC’s invitation to join the GNU following the May 29 elections, citing their refusal to co-govern with the DA, which they label as a “racist” party, and the FF Plus. Malema expressed his belief that the current GNU is temporary and predicted that the DA would eventually lead the coalition.

Addressing the possibility of working with other parties, Malema clarified that the inclusion of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party is not a condition for the EFF’s participation. He maintained that the EFF’s primary objection remains the presence of right-wing and reactionary political parties within the government.
