Eric Tinkler’s charges came into the clash with a 3-1 lead from the first leg, while they had the whole week to prepare for the contest without any midweek league commitments, unlike the first leg.

The South African side made their intentions known early on when Gaston Sirino bagged his second goal in the tie to open the scoring in the 12th minute, making it 4-1 on aggregate.

The Nedbank Cup champions went further ahead at the midway point of the first half as Haashim Domingo got his name on the scoresheet from close range, with the former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder making it two goals in two games.

Tinkler’s charges had no desire to take their foot off the pedal in the first half as they pushed for more goals, although Jean Lubumba squandered two openings in the final ten minutes of the half, which included a one-on-one opportunity with the Port Louis goalkeeper.

The next goal did arrive seven minutes after the halftime break when Ethan Brooks opened his account for the club to put his side 3-0 up on the day and 6-1 ahead on aggregate.

The chances continued to fall for the visitors as time wound down, and Brooklyn Poggenpoel did well to pick out the run of Lubumba, who was unable to hit his mark after failing to connect in the box.

Tinkler’s men were able to see out the closing stages with relative ease in Mauritius, sealing their place as the only South African team in this season’s group stage after Kaizer Chiefs were knocked out by Red Arrows.
