Ramaphosa urges Muslim voters to help shape South Africa’s future
President Cyril Ramaphosa took the campaign trail to Rylands on Saturday, telling Muslim voters no community can stand aside, as he urged all South Africans to vote and emphasised the collective responsibility for advancing the nation’s interests.
The South African community. Plain and simple. Muslims in South Africa are citizens of our country, and they, therefore, like everyone else, have a very important responsibility as citizens, and they have the same fundamental rights that every citizen of South Africa has – to vote, to participate in ensuring that the South African project is taken forward.
Ramaphosa highlighted the constitutional declaration that South Africa belongs to all who live in it, noting that Section 19 of the Constitution guarantees every citizen the right to vote, irrespective of religion, race, background, or gender.
