Mamelodi Sundowns’ status as continental champions has placed them on a financial pathway offering close to R120 million at best before Christmas.
In the MTN8, there is R10 million on offer for the winners, with the final set for Saturday, October 10 between either Sundowns or Golden Arrows against Orlando Pirates or Sekhukhune United.

There is R1 million guaranteed if they don’t lift the trophy.
Next will be the CAF Champions League, for which a USD100 000 (approx. R1,62 million) solidarity payment will be made if they don’t make it to the group stage.

Miguel Cardoso’s men have a bye into the second qualifying round in October, where they will meet the winner of the two legs between Angolan club Wiliete Sport Clube de Benguela SAD and Foresters Mont Fleuri FC of Seychelles.
Should they get past that stage, then they will enter the group stage, which will run from November to January.
Reaching the group phase will come with a guaranteed minimum of USD700 000 (R11,3 million).
This is what CAF will pay to the teams that finish in third and fourth place.
All else in the Champions League will be determined into the New Year, with quarterfinalists getting USD900 000 (approx. R14,6 million), semi-finalists USD1,2 million (approx. R19,4 million), runners-up USD2 million (approx. R32,3 million) and the winners USD6 million (approx. R97 million).
Then, in the Carling Knockout, which gets underway on October 24 and will have the decider played on December 12, there is a guaranteed last 16 purse of R550 000 based on what was paid out in last season’s competition.
Quarterfinalists will earn R850 000, semi-finalists R1,35 million, R2,85 million for runners-up and R6,85 million for the winners.
The CAF Super Cup one-off match against Confederation Cup winners, USM Alger, on November 8 has USD500 000 (approx. R8,1 million) for the winners.
Should The Brazilians not lift the trophy then they will get USD250 000 (approx. R4,1 million).
In the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, there will be at least USD2 million (approx. USD32,4 million) to bank which is the estimate paid out to clubs not reaching the final.
Sundowns will start against the winner of the Al Ahli Saudi FC/Auckland FC match for the FIFA African–Asian–Pacific Cup on September 19.
Should they win that contest then they will play FIFA Challenger Cup against the winners of the 2026 Copa Libertadores (to be determined on November 28) and 2026 CONCACAF Champions Cup (Deportivo Toluca FC) match.
If they proceed again then they will contest the Intercontinental Cup final against UEFA Champions League holders, Paris Saint-Germain where USD5 million (approx. R81 million) is on offer for the winners.

So, the maximum to make for Sundowns if they win all four trophies before Christmas and reach the group stages will be approximately R117 million depending on the rand’s value against the greenback.
The minimum guaranteed will be at R39,7 million and this will be if they don’t win the MTN8, CAF Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup, don’t reach the Champions League group stages, and get knocked out in the first round of the Carling Cup.
