Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has warned that the reliance on race-based politics in South Africa will ultimately backfire on those who use it to divide the nation.

Speaking during a recent engagement, Malema addressed the shifting political landscape, cautioning that while race remains a sensitive and significant issue in the country, political strategies built solely on racial polarization are unsustainable and dangerous for the future of the state.

The obsession with race-based politics is a short-sighted strategy that will eventually consume those who promote it. We must focus on the material conditions of our people rather than using race as a tool for political expediency.

Malema emphasized that the EFF’s vision remains rooted in economic emancipation for all, regardless of racial background, arguing that the focus should be on addressing poverty, unemployment, and inequality. He noted that the electorate is becoming increasingly sophisticated and is looking for tangible solutions to their daily struggles rather than divisive rhetoric.

The EFF leader also touched upon the importance of national unity, stating that a country divided by racial animosity cannot achieve the progress required to uplift the marginalized. He urged political actors to move beyond the politics of the past and engage in a more inclusive discourse that addresses the needs of all South Africans.
