EFF hits back at AfriForum over Malema’s crimen injuria prosecution
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have responded to the news that their leader, Julius Malema, is set to face prosecution for crimen injuria following a successful push by AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit.
The EFF maintains that these legal actions are politically motivated attempts to silence the party and its leadership through the use of the courts.
The prosecution stems from allegations that Malema falsely accused an Eastern Cape school principal of rape. AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit successfully convinced the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to proceed with the case.
The party has vowed to defend its leader against what it describes as a campaign of harassment by lobby groups.
The legal battle continues as both sides prepare for the upcoming court proceedings regarding the crimen injuria charges.
