Stolen R700,000 Toyota Hilux Recovered Near Polokwane:
A 45-year-old man has been arrested after police recovered a stolen Toyota Hilux Legend Edition double cab valued at R700,000 during an intelligence-driven anti-smuggling operation on the N1 outside Polokwane.
The vehicle, reported stolen in Tshwane, was allegedly being transported from Gauteng to Limpopo for smuggling through the Beitbridge border. Police and private security partners intercepted the bakkie near the Shell Ultra City on the N1 South and arrested the driver on the spot.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on 22 June 2026 on a charge of possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.
Police have praised the successful operation and say investigations into possible cross-border vehicle smuggling syndicates are continuing.
