Isaacs: Mtasingwa needs more time to adapt

Former Kaizer Chiefs centre-back Dominic Isaacs says the club’s new midfielder Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko still needs to settle in the team since arriving late for pre-season.

The 27-year-old defensive midfielder is having a slow start in Naturena and was signed from Tanzanian club Azam FC late in July 2026, missing most of Amakhosi’s pre-season.

He has made only three appearances for Chiefs so far, with his game limited to substitutes and cameos under French coach Fernando Da Cruz, who has publicly backed the midfielder, citing that he needs more time to adapt to the fast-paced Premier Soccer League.

Mtasingwa has also played abroad, spending 6 seasons in Scandinavia, playing in the Icelandic, Norwegian, and Finnish leagues.

“Mtasingwa needs to be given a fair chance; with him, you can’t be too harsh and make decisions too soon,” Isaacs tells KickOff.

“People must remember he is coming into an environment where the pressure is too high in terms of performance and winning games. It’s usually difficult for people to adjust in environments like that.

“Let’s just give the player enough time to adjust; people must give him time to adapt.”
