Patriotic Alliance (PA) deputy president Kenny Kunene has alleged that Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema maintained close and ongoing relationships with notorious figures, including the late taxi boss Jotham “Mswazi” Msibi and KT Molefe.

These claims were central to a defamation lawsuit initiated by Malema, who sought R1 million in damages following Kunene’s assertions made during a podcast interview. Kunene alleged that Malema frequently visited the homes of these individuals, specifically claiming that Malema would leave businessman Adriano Mazzotti’s property at night to meet with Msibi.

Kunene further alleged that these meetings involved the exchange of cash and whisky, claims which Malema has vehemently denied. Malema’s legal team has disputed these allegations, characterizing them as “nonsense” and part of a broader effort to damage his reputation.

The defamation case, which was heard in the Gauteng High Court, recently collapsed after Malema’s legal team failed to file the necessary affidavits within the prescribed timeframes, leading the court to strike the matter from the roll.
