‘We’re losing the fight against gangsterism and drugs’ – KZN resident

NTUZUMA – Residents in Ntuzuma, KwaZulu-Natal, have raised concerns over gangsters and drug dealers who continue to terrorise communities.
Two school pupils have been shot and killed, while three others are fighting for their lives in hospital.
It is believed the pupils were preparing for school when a group of unidentified gunmen opened fire on them.

One resident, Zinhle Cele, painted a grim picture of the fight against gangsterism.
”We are literally living in a war zone. Every, literally every day somebody, a kid is shot. Every third day a child is killed in this area and it’s very painful. It’s scary, it’s painful, it’s devastating.”
She said police have been deployed, but crime still continues.
“We are literally losing the fight of crime, we’re losing the fight of gangsterism, of drug abuse and selling of drugs,” she said.
