430 suspects were arrested for various crimes

Over 430 suspects were arrested for various crimes during ops that were held across the JHB District, from 08 May 2026 to 10 May 2026. These operations include #OperationShanela II, high-density ops, station commanders’ ops, and ad hoc roadblocks.

#SAPS joined by other law enforcement agencies, apprehended about 59 suspects for various crimes during Operation Shanela II, which was held in the Lenasia and Jabulani policing precincts. Three of the suspects were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms. About eight suspects were also arrested for dealing in liquor without a licence.

A total of 117 suspects were also arrested for various crimes during the station commanders’ ops held across the Johannesburg District.

Police detectives also traced and arrested about 178 suspects for various crimes. 27 Of the suspects were arrested for #GBV-related offences.
