CROSS-BORDER BLITZ: 275 ARRESTED, R15M IN GOODS SEIZED:
A four-day inter-provincial cross-border operation from 1–4 September 2026 targeted transnational criminal networks across the Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Northern Cape and Free State.
The integrated operation involved SAPS specialised units, SANDF, Border Management Authority, SARS and Home Affairs, focusing on drugs, stock theft, illegal firearms, counterfeit goods and undocumented migration.
Key results:
275 suspects arrested, including 76 undocumented foreign nationals.
R15 million+ in counterfeit goods confiscated.
6 illegal firearms and ammunition seized.
28 illegal gambling machines confiscated.
8,406 vehicles and 13,039 people stopped and searched.
406 traffic fines issued, totalling R396,950.
4,000 Mandrax tablets seized after K9 officer Nolan detected drugs hidden in a courier parcel.
A separate operation resulted in the seizure of three unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The operation demonstrates the value of intelligence-led policing and strong cooperation between SAPS and partner agencies in disrupting organised and cross-border crime.
