Abdeslam Ouaddou has etched his name into Orlando Pirates history by overseeing a 17-game unbeaten run in away matches, surpassing the previous club record held by Ruud Krol.

The Moroccan coach reached the milestone following Pirates’ 1-0 victory over Sekhukhune United in the MTN8 first leg semi-final, extending an extraordinary sequence that has seen the Buccaneers become formidable travelers.
The unbeaten streak stands at 13 wins and four draws with zero defeats since Pirates’ last away loss to St Eloi Lupopo in October 2025. Krol’s previous record of 16 consecutive away games without defeat, which ended in March 2011, had remained untouched for over 15 years before Ouaddou’s side eclipsed it.
The achievement highlights one of the most impressive aspects of Ouaddou’s tenure at Pirates: consistency on the road. Winning away from home has traditionally been one of the toughest challenges in South African football, where hostile atmospheres and difficult travel conditions can derail even the best-prepared teams. Yet under Ouaddou, Pirates have turned opposition venues into productive hunting grounds.

The numbers behind the streak are compelling. 13 wins from 17 away matches represents a 76% win rate, a remarkable return in any competition.
The four draws mean Pirates have picked up 43 points from a possible 51 on the road during this period, the kind of away record that championship-winning teams are built upon.
Ouaddou’s overall record at Orlando Pirates further underscores his impact. In 49 matches across all competitions, he has registered 35 wins, eight draws, and just five defeats. That translates to a win percentage of 71.4% and a points-per-game average of 2.37 in league competitions—elite numbers by any measurement.
The five losses, while inevitable over the course of nearly 50 matches, represent just 10.2% of his total games in charge. For context, that means Pirates lose once every 10 matches under Ouaddou, a ratio that speaks to both tactical acumen and squad consistency.
