The Civic Engagement Forum of Zimbabwe says source countries must take responsibility for resolving the refugee crisis in Durban.

The forum’s General Sithole says the governments should provide necessary funding and work with South Africa to process and repatriate the people.

He also says South Africa must enforce its immigration laws while protecting vulnerable and documented migrants.

“The government of all the affected countries must comply, because we cannot always speak of diplomatic relationships and protecting our diplomatic relationships at the expense of another government. The government of South Africa is facing its difficulties. And this is from the communities which are rising. Therefore, now we need to see the government and all the relevant parties coming to the table. Nothing is going to go forward if other people are just going to overlook the problem.”
