Vehicle Destroyed By Fire: N2 Blackburn – KZN
A silver Mercedes-Benz C200 was destroyed by fire on the N2 in Blackburn, KwaZulu-Natal today (Thursday, 10/09/2026).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) and RUSA Paramedics were dispatched to the scene at approximately 11:48 after the Operations Centre received multiple calls from passing motorists reporting a vehicle on fire.
On arrival it was established that the engine compartment was engulfed in flames. Members of the public attempted to extinguish the blaze with fire extinguishers, but it spread rapidly throughout the vehicle.
The driver stated that smoke began emanating from the ventilation system. He pulled over and attempted to open the bonnet to investigate when the Mercedes-Benz C200 burst into flames. Ethekwini Fire & Rescue Services arrived shortly thereafter and extinguished the fire.
All four (4) occupants escaped unharmed.
