Pirates land teenage star after eye-catching season

Motsepe Foundation Championship side Hope FC have confirmed the departure of one of their standout performers, with a teenage winger now set to continue his career at Orlando Pirates.
Edmilson Chaney is joining the Buccaneers after playing an important role in helping the ambitious Cape Town-based side secure promotion to the National First Division.

The winger, who came through the Cape Town Spurs academy, was one of Hope FC’s standout players during their time in the ABC Motsepe League last season.
His performances have now earned him a move to one of South Africa’s biggest clubs, with Pirates continuing to strengthen their squad with promising young talent.
Hope FC confirmed Chaney’s exit in a statement, highlighting the winger’s contribution to their promotion and the club’s commitment to creating opportunities for young players.
“Edmilson ‘Millies’ Chaney departs Hope FC after completing a transfer to Orlando Pirates,” the club confirmed.
“A young man who played an important role in our promotion and whose journey represents exactly what we want Hope FC to stand for, creating opportunities and pathways for young talent to reach the highest level.
“To Millies and his family, we wish you nothing but success on this next chapter.”

Chaney now joins Abdeslam Ouaddou’s star-studded team as he looks to take the next step in his development.
The move gives the teenager an opportunity to test himself at one of the country’s biggest clubs after an impressive campaign that helped Hope FC achieve promotion.
