Former SABC news anchor that was killed by her son

Hope Zinde, 50, was a respected journalist, television and radio personality, and former SABC board member.
In June 2016, concern grew among her relatives and friends after they were unable to reach her. On 11 June, a friend reportedly went to her home and saw her son, Mark Zinde, inside the house but could not gain access.
Security and police were called to the property. Upon arrival, they reportedly noticed blood marks leading from the bathroom towards the garage.
Hope’s body was later discovered inside the boot of her car. A blood-covered dumbbell was also reportedly found at the scene.
Evidence presented in court indicated that she had suffered a severe injury to the side of her head.
Police also recovered drugs at the property. Mark was arrested and charged with murder and possession of drugs.
The case later became complicated by his reported history of drug use and deteriorating mental health. In 2018, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and was declared a state patient.
