Ouaddou trumps Riveiro after 50 games at Pirates

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou is on track to potentially become the most successful coach in the PSL history of the club, with the highest winning rate after 50 matches at the Soweto giants.
Ouaddou’s future at Pirates appeared to be on the balance after expressing a desire to leave the club in the heat of the moment, after The Buccaneers completed a treble with their first Betway Premiership trophy in 14 years.

However, all that commotion is water under the bridge, as the French-Moroccan coach marked his 50th game in charge of Ezimnyama with a 2-0 win over Sekhukhune United.
The 47-year-old coach emerged with the highest win rate of any coach at Pirates at the 50th-game mark, winning 72% of his games.
The closest former Bucs coach to win more matches after 50 matches is Josef Zinnbauer, who had a win rate of 60%, followed by Jose Riveiro, with a win percentage of 58 at exactly the same point.
Considering that Ouaddou already has three trophies to his name, not even half-way through his second season, he remains firmly on course to become the most successful coach in the PSL history of the club, with Riveiro currently considered to have earned that title, after eclipsing former mentor Ruud Krol as a coach with the most number of games (131) and trophies (five).
Riveiro and Krol are the only two coaches to have surpassed the 100-game mark at Pirates in the PSL era, with the Dutch coach leaving The Ghosts with a win rate of 50% after 119 matches.
The Spanish mentor, meanwhile, managed 131 matches in total and had a 62,5 % win rate after he left the club with a few matches remaining of the 2024/25 season.
