JUST IN: Another venue change for Chiefs?

Kaizer Chiefs’ next match against Siwelele FC, originally scheduled to be played at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in the North West, is seemingly set for a different venue.

According to updates the most recent update, the highly anticipated fixture will now be played at Dobsonville Stadium in Sowetp.

Chiefs were originally scheduled to host the Phunya Sele Sele outfit at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Phokeng on 5 September at 20:00.

However, the announcement confirms a new date and time, with the tie moved back to Sunday, 6 September, kicking off under the floodlights at 17:30.

Meanwhile, Moses Mabhida Stadium could not host the Soweto giants’ previous match against Richards Bay because it was closed to complete major structural engineering upgrades on the stadium roof and pitch maintenance.

With the league race heating up, both sides are desperate for maximum points to alter their respective positions on the Betway Premiership log. Kaizer Chiefs find themselves sitting in third position on the log standings with eight points accumulated from their opening four matches.

Fernando da Cruz’s charges need a definitive victory to keep pace and close the two-point gap on early league pacesetters Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, who have both surged ahead to 10 points.

On the flip side, Siwelele FC are languishing precariously in 14th position, having picked up just two points from their first four outings.

The Bloemfontein-based side is desperate for an away win to kickstart their season and escape the early relegation conversation, making this high-stakes floodlit clash a non-negotiable must-win for both camps.
