A defence lawyer is expected to conclude the cross-examination of a state witness in the bail application of a couple in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo.
Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department officer Peter Nonyane, popularly known as ‘Gagash ‘, and his wife Charlotte Tibana, are accused of defrauding three estate accounts of more than R4 million between 2024 and 2026.
The state witness Constable Khutsiso Thobejane earlier told the court that the accused would interfere with investigations if granted bail.
The state says it will bring two more witnesses to testify in opposition to bail for the couple when the matter resumes.
Nonyane and Tibana face five charges of fraud and money laundering after allegedly benefiting unlawfully from estate accounts.
The state argues that the accused used the proceeds to acquire several properties, including luxury vehicles.
