Zwane wants rising AmaZulu star to hit Billiat, Musona level

AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane has tipped one of his players to emulate the scoring form of former Zimbabwean strikers in the PSL, including Knowledge Musona.
Zwane performed a dramatic U-turn by promising to transform his star striker, Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya, into a legendary finisher comparable to Zimbabwean icons Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat.
Speaking to reporters after Usuthu’s convincing 2-0 victory over Siwelele over the weekend, the former Kaizer Chiefs tactician vowed to use his mentorship to elevate the 23-year-old forward to international stardom.

These glowing comments mark a sharp about-face from Zwane, who had heavily slammed the forward just three days prior, publicly branding him a “lazy thinker” despite his clinical form in front of goal.
Ngwenya has been in blistering form during the opening stretch of the campaign, netting an impressive five goals across just four appearances in all competitions.
Zwane asserted that the young forward possesses the raw potential to match the illustrious domestic goal-scoring legacies left by the finest Zimbabwean imports to have graced the PSL.
“Thando is still young, but I want him to reach the level of the Musona’s,” said the former winger after their weekend win over Siwelele FC.
“I am his mentor and coach, and I will push him to reach that level. When he returns to Zimbabwe, I want him to eventually be regarded in the same way as the Musonas, Khama Billiat and Peter Ndlovu because he has the potential to reach that level.”
For context, Billiat remains one of the highest-scoring foreigners in PSL history with 97 goals, while Musona managed 44 league goals during his unforgettable stints in South Africa.

Strikingly, Zwane also added legendary former striker Peter Ndlovu into the discussion. Though Ndlovu is famously revered for his trailblazing career in the English Premier League, his subsequent PSL tenure with Mamelodi Sundowns yielded a modest return of 18 league goals.
This red-hot form has lifted Usuthu to third place on the Betway Premiership log table. With the wind firmly in their sails, the man affectionately known as ‘10111’ has already set his sights on a top-four finish come the end of the season.
