Despite Ime Okon and his Hannover 96 side going through a disappointing start to their 2026/27 campaign, manager Christian Titz has praised his defensive unit.

The German outfit are still without a point after two matchdays, following a 3-1 defeat to Energie Cottbus on the opening day and a 1-0 loss against VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday. Titz, speaking on the encounter against Wolfsburg, admitted that while results have been frustrating, his side will get back to winning ways.

“Of course, the way the game unfolded is frustrating, but I’ll quickly put it behind me,” the tactician said, per the club’s official website. “When you start a season playing as consistently as we have, it’s only a matter of time before we start winning games.”

Titz emphasised his side’s attitude, highlighting that even after conceding a late goal against Wolfsburg, his players kept pushing for an equaliser until the final whistle.

“What I can say is that the lads really didn’t give up and kept going. Apart from the fact that we didn’t capitalise on our opportunities, I can’t fault them much,” Titz explained.

“We’re not only creating a lot of chances, but the way we’re defending is really good too. The discipline with which we sprint, accelerate, and decelerate — we show a very high level of commitment.”

Titz is convinced that with the first successes, confidence in front of the opponent’s goal will also return.

“I believe that will come with the games. If we take our chances in the next game, that confidence will be there again,” he said.
