The family of one of the men who died in a mass shooting in Langa, in Cape Town, over the weekend, says they are still struggling to come to terms with their loss.

Family and friends of Ayabonga Gaqa gathered in Langa to hold a prayer service in his honour.

He was one of five people who were shot and killed in a mass shooting in the area. 11 people were killed in three separate mass shootings on the Cape Flats over the weekend.

His uncle, Bongile Gaqa, says the family is reeling in pain following the loss of their loved one.

“This is a very painful moment for the family at the moment because the father is not working. He was in hospital for an extended period and he just got out of hospital, close to end of June, and we were beginning to think that we should take him to the Eastern Cape and now this happens. As a family, we are deeply hurt,” says Gaqa.
