Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus has called up veteran utility forward, Deon Fourie to the national squad for the upcoming Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series against New Zealand following his return from a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury.
The 39-year-old, who doubles up as a loose forward and hooker, is expected join up with the squad in Johannesburg, on Tuesday.
His last test for the Springboks was the 2023 Rugby World Cup Final against New Zealand in Paris.
Fourie made his return to top class rugby in the Stormers’ clash with the All Blacks in Cape Town on Friday evening.
Captain Siya Kolisi is in doubt for the first test on the 22nd of August after picking up a hamstring injury in Saturday’s match against Argentina in Buenos Aires.
