Orlando Pirates are set for a rare encounter against Cameroonian opposition. With that in mind, here’s a closer look at their new CAF Champions League rivals, Colombe Sportive.

Cameroonian champions Colombe Sportive will be looking to make their mark on the continental stage after being drawn alongside Simba SC, Orlando Pirates and RS Berkane in Group C of the CAF Champions League.

The club head into the competition as back-to-back Cameroon MTN Elite One champions after winning consecutive league titles in the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons.

Their first championship came after a remarkable 2024/25 campaign, in which they claimed their maiden league title in their 72-year history.

The historic achievement came under the guidance of former Cameroon international Richard Towa, who was in charge of the team during their successful campaign and remains at the helm to this day.

Colombe also have experienced players in their ranks, including former Cameroon international striker Leandre Tawamba, who has previously featured for clubs such as Partizan Belgrade and Al-Taawoun.

The Cameroonian outfit will now have an opportunity to test themselves against some of Africa’s established clubs as they prepare for their first-ever appearance in the CAF Champions League group stage.

The last time Pirates faced Cameroonian opposition was back in 2004, when they met Sable FC de Batié.
