Ramaphosa warns ANC candidates against arrogance and corruption
President Cyril Ramaphosa has issued a stern warning to African National Congress (ANC) candidates, urging them to shun arrogance and corruption as the party navigates a challenging political landscape ahead of the local government elections.
Addressing party members, Ramaphosa emphasized that the ANC’s survival depends on its ability to regain the trust of the electorate by demonstrating integrity and service-oriented leadership.
The ANC cannot afford to let its desire for unity impede its need to get rid of corrupt officials.
The President’s remarks come at a time when the party is facing significant scrutiny over its candidate selection processes and internal governance issues. He stressed that candidates must be accountable to the communities they serve rather than focusing on personal gain.
Ramaphosa further noted that the party is committed to renewal, despite the internal and external pressures it currently faces. He called on all candidates to embody the values of the organization and to work tirelessly to address the socio-economic challenges facing South Africans.
