Kutlwano Letlhaku’s has made little progress since making his way up into the Mamelodi Sundowns first team, being in and out of the team, and an exit for a move abroad has not been ruled out.

Despite being one of the most promising players to come up from the development structures at the club, the junior international has not been able to command a regular spot with The Brazilians, who has loads of competition in attacking positions.

Indications are that there is interest abroad and a decision on his future is expected to be made towards the end of the season, with the possibility of an exit for a move overseas.

It’s believed Letlhaku’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, with Sundowns keen on keeping him, but it’s understood that the player has not put pen to paper on a new deal.

He has been in and out of the team over the last few months, raising questions over his consistency on the pitch. The 20-year-old, who is part of the national under-23 team, did not play much during the second half of last season, but was a surprise inclusion in Sundowns Champions League final, starting both legs against AS FAR of Morocco.

He had not featured in any of Sundowns’ knockout phase matches until the final. In total, he featured in 18 of the 50 matches Sundowns played last season.

In this campaign, Letlhaku has featured on just four occasions, with one goal to his name.

Sundowns face the possibility of losing the 20-year-old at the end of the campaign, especially with no guaranteed game time.
