Former president Thabo Mbeki says he will be back at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Cases Commission in Johannesburg for cross-examination.

He appeared before the inquiry last week to give his side of the story on the delay in the prosecution of TRC Cases.

The Khampepe Commission is tasked with investigating claims of interference in ensuring the cases don’t see the light of day.

Mbeki is pointing fingers at the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) for not doing its work.

He has challenged those accusing his administration of political interference to produce evidence.

Mbeki says, “People who made those allegations must then present the facts; if there is anybody in government who intervened in such a manner that all the prosecutors were intimidated, they must give us the facts.”

He adds: “The High Court in Johannesburg some years back delivered a judgment which was very good because they said it doesn’t matter; they said it might be very well that there was interference, but it doesn’t excuse the prosecutors.”
