EFF leader Julius Malema has publicly praised former party MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi’s “African Renaissance Podcast,” contrasting it favorably with other popular platforms. During a press briefing, Malema highlighted the podcast as a space for substantive political discourse, which he believes is essential for the youth.

“It’s called MacG Podcast. It’s a political party, that thing. Its role is to depoliticise the youth,” Malema said, framing the podcast as an instrument designed to pull young South Africans away from political consciousness.

In contrast to his criticism of MacG’s “Podcast and Chill,” which he accused of promoting an alcohol-fueled culture that encourages dismissive attitudes toward Black and African identity, Malema lauded Ndlozi’s platform. He specifically referenced watching Ndlozi interview a former white police commissioner as an example of the kind of meaningful, content-rich conversation he considers valuable.

Malema’s endorsement has been widely credited by social media users and commentators as a significant factor in the rapid growth of Ndlozi’s podcast, which recently surpassed 100,000 subscribers in less than ten months. While some online users have debated the political motivations behind the endorsement, others have praised the platform for providing a space for intellectual engagement.
