BREAKING: A video shows Nigerian national tortured to death during Cape Town police operation

A video showing the final moments of Nigerian national Chika Ibe, who died during a police operation in Bellville, Cape Town, has resurfaced, renewing questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.

The incident occurred during a South African Police Service (SAPS) operation linked to suspected drug-related activities. Police said Ibe became unresponsive while officers were conducting a search at the property. Emergency medical services were called, and the matter was subsequently referred to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) for investigation.

Witnesses and members of the Nigerian community, however, have disputed the police account. They claim Ibe was forcefully restrained and allege that excessive force was used. Some have further alleged that he was suffocated while being restrained, although this has not been established as the cause of his death.
