The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) celebrated their 13th anniversary with a major rally in Thohoyandou, Limpopo, which also served as the launch of the party’s local government election manifesto. During the event, party leader Julius Malema addressed thousands of supporters, emphasizing the party’s readiness to govern and its commitment to improving municipal service delivery.

A notable moment occurred during the proceedings when an ANC helicopter was spotted flying over the stadium. Malema seized the opportunity to address the crowd regarding the presence of the aircraft, using the incident to highlight the political tension between the two parties as the local government elections approach.

The EFF has worked very hard. The EFF in Ekurhuleni has made sure that it gives our people dignified sanitation and water. The EFF stabilised the finances of Ekurhuleni.

Malema used the platform to contrast the EFF’s performance in coalition governments with the failures of the ruling party, claiming that the EFF has successfully cleaned up cities like Tshwane and improved infrastructure in Ekurhuleni. He urged voters to support the party, arguing that real freedom is impossible without functioning municipalities.
