Just in: KZN On Fire Following A drive by shooting. One Dead
A man has died following a targeted shooting outside a local tavern in the Stanmore area on Saturday.
KZN VIP Emergency Medical Services, together with other emergency service providers, responded to reports of a shooting at the scene.
It is believed that as the victim exited the tavern, a black vehicle approached and multiple shots were fired towards him. During the attack, several rounds were also discharged in the direction of nearby bystanders.
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported privately to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he sadly succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased.
The motive for the shooting cannot be confirmed at this stage. It is understood that the deceased was allegedly affiliated with the Phoenix Taxi Association.
The suspects fled the scene immediately after the shooting, and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation by the South African Police Service.
