Bafana Calling? SAU23 Stars Get Pitso’s Attention
The South Africa U23 side have caught the attention of Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane after their comeback win over Algeria on Thursday.
The South Africans rallied from behind with a lovely second-half display to secure a 3-1 win over the North African outfit.
Quwan Plaatjies, Nhlanhla Gasa Faiz Abraham all came off the bench to score in the second half.
The performance was praised by Mosimane, who claimed they are keeping tabs on the youngsters.
“We saw the U23s, we watched the game and we are happy with what we saw, we are happy with the prospects,” Mosimane said, as per SAFA.net.
Coach Raymond Mdaka was not on the bench due to a family bereavement, with assistant coach Karabo Mogudi taking charge on the day.
“This match proves that the talent that we have selected, I know we did not do enough, we’ll never do enough in football unfortunately, but I think the talent that we’ve selected right now has done the job and I think they can still do more,” Mogudi said.
“We’ll push them to do more, we know that they’ve got a higher ceiling, and they’ve got potential to maximize the outputs on the field of play. Holistically, a very good match but we’ll go back, analyze and see where we can improve.”
