Cyril Ramaphosa praises Siya Kolisi and Temba Bavuma in GBV address
President Cyril Ramaphosa has used his address to the nation on gender-based violence (GBV) to praise the leadership of Springbok captain Siya Kolisi and Proteas cricket captain Temba Bavuma.
The President highlighted the role of influential figures in society, specifically noting how Kolisi and Bavuma have used their platforms to speak out against the scourge of violence against women and children.
Ramaphosa emphasized that the fight against GBV requires a collective effort from all sectors of society, including sports icons who serve as role models for men and boys across the country.
He called on all South African men to follow the example set by these athletes in challenging toxic masculinity and fostering a culture of respect and safety for women.
