New Springbok captain for this Sunday’s test match against Australia in Perth, Andre Esterhuizen, says his job has been made easier by the amount of help coming from within the team.
The match kicks off on Sunday morning at 11h45 South African time.
The Boks have got plenty of experienced players to assist their new captain but are wary of a Wallaby outfit that is unbeaten in their last five matches.
Esterhuizen is a hybrid player and says he has a better understanding of the game because he now knows what the forwards are going through.
“I know when the forwards could be a little bit more tired than in the past; as a back, you don’t always understand that until you do that work yourself. So, just controlling the game and knowing what to look for, and then after long instances of a big maul, big scrum, you know exactly how the forwards are feeling and what the next call might be,” adds Esterhuizen.
