Ramaphosa: Abuse, rape and killing of women not our heritage
President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared that the abuse, rape and killing of women in South Africa is not part of the country’s heritage.
Speaking at the national Heritage Day celebrations, the President addressed the ongoing crisis of gender-based violence, emphasizing that such acts are a stain on the nation’s conscience.
The abuse, rape and killing of women is not our heritage. It is a violation of the rights of women and a betrayal of the values of our democracy.
Ramaphosa called on all citizens to take a stand against the scourge, urging men in particular to challenge the behavior of their peers and to stop being silent in the face of violence.
He reiterated that the government remains committed to ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice and that the safety of women and children is prioritized across the country.
