President Cyril Ramaphosa has expressed his deep concern and condemnation following the discovery of a tenth body in the ongoing string of murders in Ekurhuleni, South Africa. The President described the violence as a profound shame on the men of the nation, calling for urgent action to address the crisis of gender-based violence.

As a nation, we must stand up for the rights, safety and dignity of women and girls.

The latest victim was discovered at a cemetery in the Tembisa neighbourhood, marking the tenth such discovery in recent months. Authorities have widened their investigation as they work to determine if these killings are linked to a serial perpetrator, though police have stated they cannot yet confirm this.

President Ramaphosa has directed law enforcement agencies to prioritize these cases and ensure that no stone is left unturned in the pursuit of justice. The government has pledged to increase efforts to protect women and girls, while community groups continue to hold protests to raise awareness and demand greater safety measures.
