The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have responded to AfriForum’s announcement that it will be pursuing a crimen injuria prosecution against party leader Julius Malema. The case stems from allegations made by Malema regarding a school principal in the Eastern Cape.

The EFF remains unfazed by the desperate attempts of AfriForum to use the legal system to silence the leadership of the revolution.

The party stated that they view the legal action as a political witch hunt designed to distract from the EFF’s advocacy for land reform and economic justice. They maintained that Malema’s comments were made in the context of public interest and accountability.

AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit, led by Adv. Gerrie Nel, successfully convinced the National Prosecuting Authority to proceed with the charges after the organization argued that Malema’s public accusations of rape against the principal were false and defamatory.
