The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have come out in strong defence of their leader, Julius Malema, as the civil rights organisation AfriForum continues its efforts to prosecute him for crimen injuria.

The legal battle stems from comments made by Malema regarding an Eastern Cape school principal, whom he publicly accused of being a rapist. AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit has successfully engaged with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to pursue the matter, arguing that the accusations were false and defamatory.

The EFF and Malema know exactly what the court order stipulates and have spent years unsuccessfully trying to overturn it. They are now wilfully ignoring the order, and AfriForum will ensure that they face the consequences of their actions.

In response to the mounting legal pressure, the EFF has maintained that the prosecution is politically motivated and part of a broader campaign by AfriForum to undermine the party and its leadership. The party continues to stand by Malema, framing the legal challenges as an attempt to silence their political agenda.

As the case moves forward, it highlights the ongoing, contentious relationship between the EFF and AfriForum, with both sides utilizing the judicial system to address their deep-seated political and social disagreements.
