The 35-year-old served as AmaTuks’ captain in the Motsepe Foundation Championship for a few years and had hoped to lead the club back to top-flight football, but it now seems that he has brought an end to his playing career and the next generation of players will be benefiting from his experience of playing the game.

After playing for Mamelodi Sundowns, Vasco da Gama, Chippa United and Ajax Cape Town, he made the move to AmaTuks in 2019 and served as one of their most consistent performers. It led to him getting the captain’s armband, and he was part of the side which missed out on promotion via the playoffs under former coach Tlisane Motaung.

There has been no communication from AmaTuks regarding the playing career of Julies, but indications are that he has stopped playing to start focusing on coaching youngsters.

TUKS have rewarded some of their loyal servants with coaching jobs in the past. In recent times, Aubrey Ngoma and Thokozani Sekotlong have taken up coaching roles with the U13 teams.

Both Ngoma and Sekotlong played for TUKS before moving to other clubs in the PSL, but returned due to the impact they had at the club.
