Bishop Maumela retracts ‘threats’ on Ramaphosa, SAPS, after Sibiya court appearance

Bishop Maumela has withdrawn claims he made outside court about President Cyril Ramaphosa, the police and the Madlanga Commission, apologising and saying he will no longer comment publicly on Shadrack Sibiya’s case.

Bishop Azwihangwi Maumela, who dined with Shadrack Sibiya the night of his arrest, has withdrawn all his public statements defending him. Maumela’s Tuesday remarks named the President, police and the Madlanga Commission, all of which he has now retracted, citing unnamed advisers.
