UPDATE | President Cyril Ramaphosa booked off sick

President Cyril Ramaphosa has been booked off public engagements due to ill health.

Days after returning from the BRICS Summit in India, President Cyril Ramaphosa has been booked off sick.

In a short statement released on Wednesday afternoon, the Presidency announced that Ramaphosa is ill and booked off from public engagements.

President Ramaphosa, who returned from the BRICS Summit in India on Monday, has been advised by his medical team to rest and recover.

The President has asked the respective Ministers to represent him at scheduled public engagements, where the possible.

Ramaphosa is not the only senior politician booked off sick within the Presidency.

Earlier this week, Deputy President Paul Mashatile revealed that he had undergone a medical procedure, which kept him out of the public eye since July.
