The charge of crimen injuria brought against EFF leader Julius Malema does not “faze” the party, it said on Wednesday, as it hit back at AfriForum for what it described as the “weaponisation” of the justice system.

The EFF remains unfazed by these frivolous charges, which are nothing more than a desperate attempt by AfriForum to silence the voice of the downtrodden and the marginalised.

The party stated that the legal action is a clear indication of the lobby group’s obsession with its leader and its ongoing efforts to use the courts to settle political scores. The EFF further accused AfriForum of attempting to manipulate the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to pursue cases that lack merit, arguing that this undermines the integrity of the country’s legal institutions.

We will continue to fight for the economic emancipation of our people, and no amount of intimidation or legal harassment will deter us from our mission.

The EFF concluded by reaffirming its commitment to its political agenda, asserting that the charges would not distract them from their core mandate of challenging the status quo and advocating for the rights of the poor.
