DA refuses to back EFF’s motion of no confidence against Speaker Thoko Didiza

The Democratic Alliance (DA) said despite its criticism of National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza, it won’t be supporting a motion of no confidence in her on Wednesday afternoon.

The motion brought by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is the first against Didiza since she took charge of Parliament two years ago.

The DA will vote against the motion of no confidence in the Speaker, Thoko Didiza, by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).

DA parliamentary leader George Michalakis said that while he had been critical of the Speaker’s approach to the interdict application brought by the President in the impeachment process, he had held a “very fruitful” meeting with her on 11 August where they found consensus on several matters.
