Ngizwe Mchunu confirms Bhinca festival cancellation, claims EFF clash

Controversial media personality Ngizwe Mchunu has officially confirmed the cancellation of his highly anticipated Bhinca festival, citing a violent confrontation with Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supporters as the primary reason.

The safety of our attendees is paramount, and given the volatile situation and the threats posed by the EFF, we have no choice but to call off the event to prevent any potential loss of life.

Mchunu alleged that his security team was forced to discharge an AK-47 into the air after they identified armed individuals within an EFF group that had confronted them at the venue in Inanda, north of Durban. The incident has sparked significant tension in the area, leading to police intervention and the subsequent opening of a case against Mchunu by the EFF.

The festival, which was intended to celebrate Maskandi culture, had been a point of contention, with the EFF previously vowing to prevent the event from proceeding. Mchunu expressed his disappointment over the cancellation, stating that the political interference had undermined the cultural significance of the gathering.
