Ramaphosa extends Madlanga Commission deadline to January 2027

President Cyril Ramaphosa has granted the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry a final extension to complete its work and submit its final report. The commission’s new deadline is Monday, January 25, 2027, replacing the previous deadline of November 16, 2026.

According to the Presidency, the extension will give the commission additional time to consider further evidence, including testimony from experts who have made recommendations relevant to its terms of reference. The commission is investigating criminality, political interference, and corruption in South Africa’s criminal justice system.

The latest extension moves the reporting deadline by more than two months from the previous November 2026 deadline. The commission was originally expected to complete its work and submit its final report by August 31, 2026.
